Advanced Emission Control

Terapec’s Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers (RTO) deliver high-efficiency VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) emission control for industrial plants, ensuring compliance with stringent environmental regulations while significantly reducing operational costs.

Understanding Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers (RTO)

A Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) is an air pollution control device designed to destroy VOCs, hazardous air pollutants (HAPs), and odorous emissions through high-temperature combustion. Utilizing ceramic heat exchange media, an RTO efficiently preheats incoming process gases, significantly reducing fuel consumption and operating costs.

Operating Principle of an RTO System

The operation of a typical RTO consists of three primary phases:

1. Heat-up Phase

Polluted process air enters the oxidizer through ceramic heat exchangers, where it is preheated by recovering thermal energy.

2. Oxidation Phase

Preheated gases enter the combustion chamber, where temperatures between 800°C – 1100°C effectively oxidize and neutralize pollutants, converting them into harmless byproducts like water vapor (H₂O) and carbon dioxide (CO₂).

3. Cool-down Phase

Clean, hot gases exit through ceramic media, transferring thermal energy back to the ceramic bed and subsequently cooling down the treated gases before discharge.

This regenerative thermal process achieves thermal efficiency rates of 95-99%, resulting in minimal fuel use and reduced emissions.

F.A.Q

What is a Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer?

A Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) is an industrial emission control system designed to destroy harmful pollutants, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and hazardous air pollutants (HAPs), through a high-temperature oxidation process.

How does an RTO work?

An RTO works by cycling polluted air through ceramic media to preheat it, then oxidizing pollutants at high temperatures (800°C – 1100°C), converting them into harmless compounds. This heat is regenerated and reused to minimize fuel consumption.

What industries typically use RTO systems?

RTO systems are widely used in chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, automotive painting, food processing, printing, packaging, and wastewater treatment industries.

Why choose Terapec's RTO systems?

Terapec offers high-efficiency RTO systems with superior VOC destruction, customized engineering solutions, robust designs, compliance with international standards, and reduced operational and fuel costs.

How efficient are RTO systems in removing VOCs?

Terapec’s RTO systems achieve VOC removal efficiencies of up to 99%, making them highly effective in meeting stringent environmental regulations.

What type of fuels can power an RTO?

Our systems typically operate on natural gas, LPG, or fuel oil, allowing flexibility based on your operational needs and available resources.
